'THE BUS' FOR SEASON 2009/10

After a disastrous season on and off the pitch we've been considering how the bus should operate for next season.

We've rarely broken even this season. Fewer regular travellers and increased coach hire cost has meant that we've subsidised the bus for many home games - often by up to £30 a trip. We simply cannot afford to do this next season. The Travelcard system has worked very well for the last 6 seasons and saved holders 'loads of money'. The new charge for 09-10 is £10 for all adults & £5 for under-18s. The Travelcard guarantees you a seat on the bus for every home game and is not transferable. Existing Travelcard holders will receive first option to renew, and any remaining places will be offered to newcomers. Renewals can be purchased at the beginning of next season, either at pre-season friendlies or the first home game.

Bus fares to home games have been reviewed and, depending which division we are in (and how many regulars we can count upon) there's likely to be an increase. Proposals are:

Option a) Keep the charges the same (but only if we can accumulate 50 regulars; we've only had around 30 to 35 on the bus this season).

Option b) Charge all adults the same £5 fare. Under-18s pay £3, Non-Travelcard holders £6.

Option c) Charge £6 for adults and retain a concession of £4 for Senior Citizens and Under-18s. Non-Travelcard holders pay £7 & £5 respectively.

GET YOUR FINGER OUT?

Our Web Site is a vital source of information as well as being a bit of a giggle. It provides up to date details on ticketing, travel arrangements and the comings and goings at our beloved football club. It was once hailed as 'the best Toon web site' by some visitors. If you're not a regular visitor then I'm afraid you're missing out.

Predictably it has been down to 1 or 2 contributors to keep it going and to keep it up and running we need more people to get involved, air their views and take the mickey. We are looking for 6 or 7 volunteers to contribute by writing articles and match reports.
